Infirmary West at Knollwood is a general medical and surgical hospital in Mobile, AL, with 62 beds. It offers a variety of treatment and diagnostic services in the areas of cardiology and pediatrics. The hospital offers case management and wound care services, conducts orthopedic, vascular and general surgeries. It also provides radiography, X-ray, bone density testing and CT scan services.
WETS provided overall project management from ground breaking through commissioning. Project was completed in 36 months.
A major hospital was faced with the challenge of needing additional facilities but lack of space and traffic congested prevented expansion at the existing site. WETS worked with Hospital Administration and the Architect to develop a 60,000 sq ft outpatient facility at a nearby off site location. This 5 story facility included doctors’ offices, outpatient surgery, diagnostic radiology, CT scan, Ultrasound, Laboratory services, Open MRI, Electro diagnostics (including EKG), and Bone density scanning. This project required fast track construction to meet Administrations requirements. Construction was completed 12 months and ready for patients. The Infirmary 65 building is considered one of the premiere medical office buildings in Mobile.
The RSA Tower is the tallest building in downtown Mobile, Alabama, at 750 feet. The building is owned by the Retirement Systems of Alabama and offers class-A office space. The building began with foundation slab concrete being poured during the weekend of 7 November 2003. The foundation slab is over 7 feet (2.1 m) thick, with just over 5 feet (1.5 m) of it resting below the natural water table of downtown Mobile. The tower consists of 25 office floors, 3 lobby floors, 4 hotel floors, and 1 service floor, together with 20 elevators and 570,000 square feet (52,955 m2) of column-free floor space.
WETS was responsible for all mechanical, civil and electrical project management. Project was completed in 36 months inclusive of initial demolition of existing structures. Project included renovation of the landmark Battle House hotel which ties into the first 6 floors of the Tower.
WETS provided construction management for the 20,000 sq ft facility for the loading of tourist cruise ships from the port of Mobile. Cast-in-place concrete structure, start to finish time of 125 days. Project included; three level parking garage, Homeland Security facilities, people and supplies loading for cruise ship, baggage handling and dockside mooring/ship utilities. Project was fast tracked and construction was completed in 6 months.
